An independent hospital survives
November 21, 2024 -- St. Rose Hospital -- where I am proud to have worked (as an RN in the Telemetry Unit) in 2021 -- delivers excellent care to the people of Hayward and Alameda County. As one of the few remaining independent hospitals in Northern California, its financial survival was hanging in the balance until its rescue this month by the Alameda Health System, our County's public safety-net (see St. Rose Hospital is now an affiliate of Alameda Health System). Almost all of our independent hospitals have been gobbled up by Sutter, Kaiser, and other giant chains. This trend is good for profits and bad for patients. Go St. Rose!
