interested June 11, 2019 -- A few months ago, Microsoft announced that it would close its HealthVault service, effective 11/20/2019. I have blogged about HealthVault before, e.g. here. It will follow Google Health (blogged here) down the ignominious path of project failure. But why these failures? I had predicted that patients would want access to (if not control of) their health data. Others had made similar demands. Yet, consumers remained resoundingly uninterested. A compelling case for us each to take charge (or at least acquire visibility) could not be made. No business model emerged. For me as a champion of empowered patients and the information must be free movement, this is a profound disappointment. Hey, patients! Get with it! |
