Durham in Las Vegas
January 15, 2025 -- In a talk a couple of days ago entitled "Thinking Like a Nurse", Prof. Carol Durham EdD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, FSSH of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill described a uniquely effective learning system named NovEx, Novice to Expert Learning. It is a set of "virtual clinicals" -- interactive programs in which the nurse learner rehearses clinical judgment in simulated patient situations: 
Though I remain convinced that there is no better learning modality than live patient clinical rotations, the value of NovEx is clear and I wish I'd had it in nursing school. Might these exercises be made available to working or returning nurses -- possibly granting CEUs upon completion -- for us to sharpen our skills? |
